I asked God for an angel day in and day out
And expected one to show up supernaturally,
I looked outward and upward and all around
But failed to see the one , right in front of me.
My angel doesn’t have wings to fly all about
Or a halo that glows brightly at night,
But she’s got love ,that’s grown me to what I am now
..And makes me feel good with a hug real tight.
My angel is special and oh so clever!
She knew just the toys I liked, all the while
She’d rush home so quickly after hours of work
To play with me and just to see me smile.
My angel is strong; she held my hand and my bag
That very first day that I walked to School
And somehow she packed me the most delicious lunches
Everyday-now that was cool!!
She could bless those at office, at grandma’s, at the store
Just by her presence, yet be there when I call
To bless me to with a word, or just a smile
When my life seemed miserable - all in all.
She knows all about stitching, about tummy aches and cleaning
And that, matching spots with stripes, is just dumb
My angel’s just so smart, so loving and fun,
But it coolest, that I just call her mum
Mummy doesn’t fly around like in pictures we see;
Or on a cloud with a choir so grand,
But she’s the angel who is always so close by my side
So when I’m scared, I can hold her hand.
Yes, that’s what the calling of these angels are,
The calling of mummy’s - them all
To point us toward the path of our Lord and God
Who when He calls them, will be the greatest comfort of all!
